23/02/95 * This month's application note to be featured in the column is the "Archimedes Application Authors' Guidelines". It is aimed at the experienced user of the Archimedes who is intending to write software for general release. It covers many of the do's and dont's of how an application uses the resources of the Archimedes and contains many good guidelines for writing an application which will work both with Arthur 1.2 and RISC OS. A copy may be obtained from the Customer Support Department. * For those Archimedes owners with 1st Word Plus and an Epson compatible printer, here is a tip which will solve many aches and pains when using the wordprocessor with a printer which automatically line feeds. As you know, the manual states that auto-line feeds must be disabled, but this clashes with many other Archimedes packages. So, here are the changes you need to make to your printer driver: Entry 1 set to D Entry 23 set to 1B, 41, 0, D, 1B, 32 * Still with 1st Word Plus, if you can't get the package to pause at the end of each page (despite setting the flag in the printer driver), an updated version may be obtained from Customer Support. Simply return the 1st Word Plus disc. * Just a reminder about writing to Customer Support.
